Rent check in Groningen
Groningen is one of the Netherlands' biggest student cities, and rooms are scarce every September. Scarcity doesn't change the law: every room has a maximum rent. Check yours in 2 minutes, in English.

The maximum rent is national law, so it works the same in Groningen as anywhere in the Netherlands. Every home gets points for its size, energy label, kitchen, bathroom, outdoor space and WOZ value, and the points set the highest basic rent a landlord may ask.

Renting in Groningen
Students at the University of Groningen and Hanze University of Applied Sciences mostly rent rooms in shared houses. Rooms have their own points system, and every room is rent-regulated, whatever its size.
Moved in less than 6 months ago? If the rent is too high, the lower rent counts from your first day and you can claim the overpaid months back.
